I started playing the guitar at age five.
At the same time I had been writing songs and and singing them to anyone who would listen. Mostly my family who would endure 20 minute songs from my little voice coming from the back seat of the car when we were driving somewhere. I remember my mother having a talk with me around this time. She said to me, "Kari, songs have a beginning and songs have an end, and usually they are about about 3 or 4 minutes long".
From that moment on, I started writing pop-rock songs under 5 minutes long and the rest is history.

Originally from Ann Arbor, MI, I played as many venues as I possibly could and had many incarnations of my band to chase the dream with me. After playing many small tours around the East Coast and Midwest even winning a spot to play at Lilith Fair in Detroit, I moved to Los Angeles in 2000.

Being a Michigan girl, I thought once I had seen that California sun I would never leave. I stayed there for 8 years, playing great venues and making even better friends, but in 2007 I decided to move to Portland OR. A town that truly nutures its artists and people. I love the green
outdoors here, I love the creativity it breeds, I love the slower pace. I think I wil be sticking around here for quite some time.

Currently I am recording my fourth album, entitled "Songs from Apartment 4" to be released in the Summer of 2010.

Some of my favorite venues I have played:
Genghis Cohen - Los Angeles, CA
Molly Malone's - Los Angeles CA
The Bitter End - New York, NY
Arlene's Grocery - New York, NY
The Ark - Ann Arbor, MI
The Shelter - Detroit, MI
The Sutler - Nashville, TN
12th & Porter - Nashville, TN
Eddies Attic - Decatur, GA
White Eagle Saloon - Porltand, OR
Ash Street Saloon - Portland, OR
Alberta St. Pub - Portland, OR

I play Martin, Fender, Takamine and Reverend guitars. My amp is a Matchless Cheiftain Head and a Naylor 210 Compact Cabinet. I use Shubb capos. I have been using Ernie Ball strings for as long as I can remember and can't live without my Dunlop Tortex Jazz picks.

People who have helped me and my music immensely:
Jay Tinksy (JT), Martin Carrillo, Al Sutton, Joe Tiboni, Alan Goldsmith, Paul Ellis, Alan Combies, Doug Freyre and my family. Also being able to listen to amazing talents such as Kate Bush, Duncan Sheik, Jonatha Brooke and Jeff Buckley didn't hurt along the way...
